Guribysaga and Langebru in Baerum Norway!

On this map, you can see some nice loops you can take in a pretty short amount of time around Guribysaga in Lommedalen, in Norway. You’ll get to see some great viewpoints along the way and can finish off by heading down either Guribysagveien or the old Bergenske Kongevei.

Hike number 1 starts right at the intersection where Guribysagveien turns off to the right into the far end of Lommedalen, just after it branches off from Lommedalsveien. There's a dead-end road to the left here. Follow the path up alongside a nice grazing area and past an old, run-down cabin. Then, you’ll hit a bigger tractor road that goes past a viewpoint before dipping down into a hollow. The path forming the loop goes up to the right here. You can also choose to follow the new tractor road, which stops at the best viewpoint on the hike. The trail then continues along the upper side of a depression and climbs up to the left on a small ridge before veering right along a much older tractor road. This road eventually goes through a grazing area and down onto Guribysagveien. In the summer, there are horses grazing here, so you'll need to walk around them.

Hike number 2 starts at the gate at Guribysaga and goes almost up to Kongeveien (the old Bergenske Kongevei between the Jonsrud farms in Lommedalen and Kleivstua at Sundvollen). The trail stops just below a cabin. The owners of this cabin were the main folks behind restoring the old Bergenske Kongevei, with info signs and a lot of neat history written up in the '70s or '80s. They're really friendly and lively retirees, so if you run into them, I'd recommend having a chat. As you can see on the map, there are plenty of other trails and roads you can take, including to Johnsrudtjernet, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Between the retirees' cabin and Langebru on Kongeveien, there are also some nice trails down to Guribysagveien, which makes for a good loop. And when you get down to Guribysagveien, it's worth mentioning there's a great spot for raspberries.

At Langebru, there's a trail going south towards some cabins and up towards Steinsvollen. From Langebru, you can take a trail south up towards Gaupehaugen and Høgbrenna. At Langebru, you can also take a trail north towards Svarttjern and the road down Salmakerdalen. Langebru farm used to be a Christian place for the hippie drug scene in the '60s and '70s. Today, it's been sold for a huge symbolic sum.
